The night

The night was looking for a fight

It was itchy and scratching and bouncing on its toes

It wanted satisfaction

It wanted to howl at the moon and run headlong into midnight

It wanted to forget the day and forget itself

It wanted a chance to be free.

A chance to be

Be the star of the show

This show called life

It wanted to unravel

and unfold

and then expand

until it was time to fold in

and tuck away its rough edges

and be day again
