Objects of desire

What is it about shoes that transports us to fairytale castles

with fantastical longings for happily-ever-after endings and dancing

lots of dancing

How do they transform a maid into a princess?

What need do they fulfil in us?

Why do we crave them so much?

A chance to play pretend and leave ourselves behind

just for a little while?
