Smatterings of wonderings

I’ll be busy writing reports and writing my novel over the next month so I’ll leave you with little bits and pieces of me written a while ago.

This one tonight is about fear in the metaphor of a serpent and other musings on fear. Appropriate on Halloween nite I think.

What do you fear? What is fear like for you?

FEAR

Sly serpent

Constantly coiling

Round and round

My head, neck, heart, lungs and stomach

Slowly suffocating my breath

Choking my intentions

Obstructing my movement

Strangling my desires

Stifling my dreams

Compressing my lungs

Constricting my throat

Clogging my heart

Smothering my independence

Pressing on my thoughts

Tensing my muscles

Sucking the spirit out of me

Squeezing the life out of me

FEAR IS:

A nightmare never-ending

Stumbling in the dark

Driving without glasses

Meandering through a maze of madness

Getting lost in a labyrinth of insecurity and doubt

Freezing in a forest

Mauled by monsters

Sleeping with the enemy

Losing my mind

Losing my spirit

Losing my soul

Losing my faith

Losing my family

Losing my life

We have both written about FEAR on our blogs tonight. The notion of fear is interesting, a motivator, an invisible wall, a game we play internally. I love your metaphor; the coiling serpent taking over and constricting the desires and dreams, sucking the life out of the spirit…..the spirit however is greater than the serpent.

I must say that I’m not used to your writing being so dark and I’m suitable impressed that you can make such an easy transition.
You know I like the dark side.

Everybody has a dark side. ;-) It’s not all sunshine & lollipops for me, you know.

my aim is to write on the lighter side!!!

I find when I write dark stuff, it unnerves the people I know. :)
