COSI Theatre Studies Performance – On Creating Art

I have just returned from tonight’s Year 12 Theatre Studies performance of COSI and am still basking in the afterglow of a brilliant piece of theatre. From the moment the houselights dimmed and silence descended on the empty space the anticipation of the ensuing transformational magic was palpable. The students rose to the occasion, claimed the space and filled it with art and left the audience satisfied.

Nina never fails to deliver a soul-stirring performance. It’s a testament to her talent as a teacher and her creativity as an artist that year after year she is able to elicit professional performances from our students that forever change them and make a huge difference to their lives as developing adolescents.
It was a triumph of teaching that she was able to transfer her passion and energy and artistic vision onto the students and staff as collaborators in creating art. She never ceases to amaze me with her ability to inspire this act of metamorphosis, to tap into latent potential and bring out the best in everyone she works with.  Even after over 20 years of working with her on productions and being inspired myself, to train as a Drama teacher after she foisted me on stage, she continues to inspire me and all who work with her.
Congratulations to all the staff and students involved on another terrific performance we can be proud of and one that continues to uphold the tradition of Reservoir High as an excellent performing arts school that has produced many fine performers and more importantly, wonderful human beings.
